I am pleased to tell owners that the re-grouting of the eastern pool is almost complete. Our maintenance company A.L. Limpiezas y Servicios have done an excellent job and the tiling and steps looks good. There is a small area of steps to retile and the pool will then be refilled.
The company has given a five-year guarantee on this work.
Once filled work will start on the regrouting of the western pool.
It is important that all pool users obey the rules and shower before getting in the pool and every time they re-enter to wash off any sun oils, etc. These can seriously affect the chemical levels in the water and leads to damage to the grouting if not rectified quickly.
Work will start soon on the repair work along the western road to fill the gap between the roadway and garage wall. This will include the laying of a conduit from the communications box to entry points within the garage to allow owners to have fibre optics to homes above garages.
Finally I have to report disgusting occurrences within our urbanisation over recent weeks. On several Saturdays human excrement has been found complete with soiled toilet paper, close to parked cars and the likely culprit is a market trader – because it always happens on Saturdays. I shall be discussing with our administrator what action can be taken – by making the town hall and any market trader organisation aware of what is happening. It goes without saying we would like to catch the culprit, so those owners who are up and about early on Saturday mornings let us know if you see anything untoward.

Recently I posted a message about a post Christmas/New Year urbanisation get together at the New Golden City Chinese restaurant.
I now learn that the restaurant will be closed for a month from mid January to mid February.
I am now proposing that we hold our meal on Friday, January 11th at the same venue and same time 1.30pm.

Festive Community meal
For several years now our community has a post Christmas/New Year get together. We are planning to hold the next on January 22nd at “our” local Chinese restaurant, the New Golden City, sit down 1.30pm.
Would you please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to come, as I have to give numbers to the restaurant.
News update on unoccupied villa
I am delighted to be able to inform the community of some good news regarding the villa, number 1763, which has been abandoned for years and has been the subject of many complaints – and of course the subject of large debts to the community.
Considerable work has been carried out on the property, inside and out, in recent months, giving rise to much speculation.
I have on many occasions asked our previous administrator for updates with little success.
Having made enquiries with workmen on site this week I was today visited by the new owner. He has explained that although he has technically owned the villa for months he has been trapped in a legal wrangle with judges in Orihuela who have put a block on the transfer of his and some 3,000 properties in the area. In the new year he hopes that this will finally be settled by the European Court and he will at last be able to have electricity, water and other services connected to the villa and finally make it habitable.
He will then be in a position to clear the debts on the property which will be a useful windfall for us.
May I take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy Christmas – wherever you are spending it – and a prosperous new year.
Full moon in Torrevieja
There will be a full moon in Torrevieja on Saturday 22nd December. The Tourist office are suggesting the best place to see this incredible event is from the Juan Aparicio promenade at 7pm.

Today I joined a group of local urbanisation presidents in Orihuela Costa who were invited to a meeting by a new organisation called Agrupacion Electoral which is a citizens’ movement aimed at getting local councillors onto Orihuela Council at the elections in May.
The following is a news story I have sent to the press. You will see how important it is now to get yourselves onto the voters’ list at the Town Hall – because time is running out.

Nativity scene in Torrevieja
Every year, after the celebration of the floral tribute to the Patron of the city of Torrevieja, Purisima Inmaculada Concepcion, the municipal Nativity Scene is opened in the church square which is opposite the main building of the Town hall.
The nativity scene is set on 220m2 in the church square and includes around 900 figures of which many of them are representations of Torrevieja, such as the Torre del Moro, the Eras del Sal salt loading deck and the windmill of the Calvario square.
A must for visitors to the area, the municipal nativity scene should be put in everyone’s diary for at least one visit. Different stands selling typical Christmas products like chestnuts, nuts, dried fruits and toys are also set in the surrounds of this fantastic nativity scene. There will be a large Christmas tree which will light up the square with it’s colourful lights and decoration.
Furthermore there is always a celebration outside the nearby church to see the New year in and to take part people need to eat one grape each time the clock strikes at midnight.

Pool gates must be locked at all times
During the past 10 days I have been showing various maintenance companies our urbanisation and pools. Each time I have gone to the eastern pool I have found one of the gates unlocked.
I cannot stress how important it is for these gates to be kept locked. The gate in question is one of these facing the road and it would be easy for unsupervised children to open the gate, wander into the pool and fall in, particularly after dark.
I am sure that no-one wants the death of a child on their conscience so please will everyone ensure that these gates are locked at all times.
